2024 U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad

The U.S. National Chemistry Olympiad (USNCO) is a multi-tiered competition designed to stimulate and promote achievement in high school chemistry. It is sponsored by the American Chemical Society. Each year, four students are chosen to represent the USA in the International Chemistry Olympiad, which is hosted in July in one of the participating countries. Details regarding the event can be found on the ACS USNCO website.

Chemistry Class

The Northeast Ohio Section of the ACS hosts local training and testing events for eligible high school students within Lake and Ashtabula counties. High school students who participate in the event and complete the local exam are eligible for prizes based upon their performance. Prizes awarded by the NEOACS are $500 for first place, $250 for second place, and $100 for third place. Additionally, all teachers that bring students to the competition will be entered into a raffle for a $250 gift card. The deadline for entry is March 10th. Students should discuss their interest with their chemistry/science teachers and teachers should send information regarding student's name, high school, and address to Christopher.Kolp@Ursuline.edu.

The local exam will be held on Saturday March 16th begining at 10:00 AM. It will be held in-person at Ursuline College, 1550 Lander Road, Pepper Pike Ohio. Additional details will be provided to the students once they have applied.
